Erin Freers-Cole
Erin was raised and currently resides in Macomb County. She graduated summa cum laude from Paul K Cousino High School in Warren, MI in 1999. From there she went on to Michigan State University where she earned two degrees, one in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy from James Madison College and one in Psychology from the College of Social Science. Erin was also a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society for psychology. While in college, Erin worked for State Representative Jennifer Faunce in Lansing as a Legislative Assistant. She also worked for the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety in the Records Department. While at MSU she was the Vice President and Founding Member of the Michigan State Mock Trial Team. The team went on to the National Championships. Erin also attended Cambridge College in England as part of a study abroad program.
After college, Erin attended law school at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2006. While in law school, Erin participated in the American Inns of Court and was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus as well as a representative in the Student Bar Association. During law school, Erin clerked for the Warren City Attorney’s Office gaining valuable experience prosecuting misdemeanor cases as well as helping to defend the City in civil cases.
After law school, Erin joined her father and sister in at Freers, Freers & Freers. Erin currently practices in the areas of criminal law, civil, family, probate and estate planning, collections, and real estate. Erin has handled a wide variety of cases from major franchise litigation to capital crimes to landlord tenant and collection matters. She has handled all aspects of litigation including pre-trial, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, summary judgment motions, and trials both bench and jury. With such experience Erin can tailor your case to meet your goals and objectives in the most cost efficient manner. Most importantly, though Erin believes in being honest and upfront with clients. She believes that the best informed clients are best able to make decisions regarding their cases. Therefore, she will guide clients through the process informing them of what to expect at each stage, what their options are, and what the pros and cons of each option are.
Erin is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Criminal Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, the Macomb County Bar Association, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She is also active in her daughter’s school and activities.
